DRAFT — not legal advice, for review by a licensed Florida attorney
This is a draft prepared by an AI legal analyst, not a licensed attorney. Legal information and analysis, not legal advice. MiaMetrix should confirm with a licensed Florida attorney before relying on it. It is written to be publishable for a free tool that collects no sensitive data; a licensed attorney's review is still required before any paid or account-based version of RuleCrosse ships.
Terms of Use
RuleCrosse is a free lacrosse rule-checker. These terms explain what it is, what it does and does not promise, and the simple rules for using it. Please read them.
1. Who you are agreeing with
RuleCrosse (the "service") is operated by Jorge Marrero, doing business as MiaMetrix ("we", "us"), an individual based in Florida, United States. "RuleCrosse" is the name of the product; "The Playbook Caller" is a separate MiaMetrix product. By using the service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

2. What RuleCrosse is
RuleCrosse is a free web app that lets you lay out a lacrosse diagram and checks it against certain positional rules we have paraphrased from published lacrosse rule books. In this release there are no accounts, no sign-in, no payment and no cloud sync. The tool runs in your browser. Any board or diagram you make stays on your own device (in your browser's local storage) and is not sent to us.
The only information you can choose to give us is your email address, if you add it to our founding-member waitlist. That is optional. How we handle it is described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Who it is for
RuleCrosse is intended for coaches, officials and other adults who work with lacrosse rules. You do not need an account, so there is nothing to sign up for to use the tool itself. You must be 18 or over to join the waitlist by giving us your email address; please do not submit an email address if you are under 18. We are not collecting any information from children in this release.
4. Your licence to use it
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use RuleCrosse for your own coaching, officiating and educational purposes, for free. You may show it to others and use it in your own lacrosse work. This licence does not transfer any ownership of the service to you.
5. Acceptable use
Please use RuleCrosse fairly. You agree not to:
- copy, resell, rent or redistribute the service as your own product, or strip out or alter our name and branding and pass it off as yours;
- reverse engineer, scrape, or try to extract the underlying rule data or code as a dataset or product;
- attack, overload, probe or disrupt the service, or try to get around its security;
- use the service to break the law or anyone else's rights.
We may change, limit or discontinue the service, or stop offering it to you, at any time, because it is a free tool.
6. What we own
The service itself — the software, the diagrams and text we wrote, the paraphrased rule summaries, the name and the branding — belongs to us and is protected by copyright and trademark. You may use it under the licence above; you may not treat it as your own to copy, resell or redistribute. The names "RuleCrosse" and "MiaMetrix" are our trademarks.
7. Not affiliated, and not an official ruling
Not affiliated. RuleCrosse is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), the NCAA, US Lacrosse / USA Lacrosse, or any other league, association or governing body. Names of rule books and governing bodies are used only to say which published rules a check is based on.
Not an official ruling. The rule content in RuleCrosse is a paraphrased coaching and study aid, provided for convenience only. It may contain errors or be out of date, rule books change from season to season, and the tool cannot judge everything that happens in a real game. It is not legal advice, not officiating advice, and not an official ruling. Do not rely on RuleCrosse to decide whether a real play is legal. Always rely on the current official rule books and on the on-field officials, whose decision governs.
8. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise the service will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time.
9. Limits of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of or inability to use the service, or from reliance on its rule content. Because RuleCrosse is provided to you for free, our total liability to you for any and all claims relating to the service is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some states do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Privacy
How we handle the one piece of personal information you can give us — a waitlist email address — is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the service.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in Florida have jurisdiction, except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court where eligible. If you are a consumer outside the United States, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law where you live.
13. The rest
If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about the service. We may transfer our rights under them to a company we later form to run the service, or to a successor if the business changes hands.
